C O P R A #24

COPRA #24 is here! Dissension in the ranks, loose ends are tied up, twists & turns are introduced, and more than a little hands-on conflict:z this issue has it all! There’s no better way to celebrate the 24th issue of the world’s greatest action comic!

Dieter VDO closes out his serialized portion of the comic with a terrifying, beautifully painted conclusion. Receiving his back covers for these last six issues has been one of the run’s highlights.

I started this whole thing – this COPRA thing – with 12 issues in mind. Right here, with this chapter, that number has doubled; handing in issue 24 to the printer was equal parts exciting and exhausting. That’s a big deal to me! I, who once had trouble finishing 24 panels, have expanded the world of COPRA page by page.

Shoot, some would say a solo venture like this is not all that common.

Thanks to all the readers and subscribers and fans who came to see me at all the shows. I will never tire of letting you know how much I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Big thanks to all the stores that carry Copra, too! And to the biggest store of them all, Bergen Street Comics — soon to close their doors while continuing to be a comics publisher. They were there from the beginning of my self-publishing venture, friendly and forward thinking. I was flattered to have them in my corner, and I’m proud that they still are.

Extra big thanks to Kat Roberts, who weathered the storm of my production mania with style and care while working on her own massive project.

Oh, wait — COPRA is now in spanish! This has been a dream of mine so I’m quite excited to announce that Inefable Tebeos has released a translated compendium of the first 3 Copra issues as Copra: Compendio Uno.

COPRA 23 is now available – 24 full color pages of nothing but loving devotion to an intimate super powered massacre.

Here’s a reminder of how awesome Dieter Van Der Ougstraete is. I continue to be blown away by his contribution to COPRA. All bow to VDO!

But yes… Copra. COPRA. Issue 23 has crawled out of the thing we call July and it has made it all the way here. Best not to sleep on it: get COPRA 23!

COPRA #22, this one’s got a lot packed into it. It’s another “Personal Files” type of story (last one was back in #7) where we take stock of all of the players, but we don’t slow down in the slightest. New characters, a new mission, a couple of losses define this issue. It’s the first of a 3-part lesson in four color brutality.

That up there is a Lloyd drawing for a custom made Copra hardcover book made by a longtime reader. It collects the first 18 issues (plus Deathzone!) – an awesome, humbling, cool looking thing to hold.

See that drawing below? You might recognize that big guy as Copra’s own WIR teaming up with Miss Nina in this exclusive print! Check out her and her band’s crowd funding campaign for more info on how to contribute in order to get this Copra print (as well as other cartoonist prints that are available).

INTERVIEW! Comic New Insider chatted me up at TCAF and at the 40 minute mark I start rambling about self publishing and fight scenes.

REVIEW! La Habitación No. 26 reviews Copra Round Two! It’s in Spanish which is nice since I can forward it to my family and prove that comics are still part of my lifestyle.

PANELS! Another dedicated longtime Copra reader posted panels of every issue so far, four images at a time. When I say “longtime” I mean this reader was one of the first ten to subscribe to Copra when I first offered the sub. What this meant was that they would get a free sketch on the inside front cover for the first year’s worth if comics. Anyway, here are some panels.

Since I rarely ever look back on these issues, it was neat to see them all in one shot. It was also interesting to see what panels were singled out and zeroed in on. Those up there were the first 9 issue in reverse order. Here are issues 10-21.

Speaking of those first ten subscribers, here’s another one who posted pics of the actual sketches in his copies!

Check out the rest here. Kinda funny how you can see the amount of detail fall off one by one. Hey, I tried making them all as cool as possible! Completing every issue is a race against time itself. Time always wins but hell, at least I get an issue out of it.
