A few days ago, the kind and generous Joe Keatinge wrote up a nice piece for Neon Monster on who he thinks should be involved in the third volume of the Strange Tales series by Marvel Comics… and I made the grade.
I’ve dabbled here and there with the Marvel toys, and the 80s era Spider-Man drawing above is no exception. I drew it a few months ago and although I enjoyed drawing the Sandman here a whole lot, he could’ve been a little angrier, a little more forward in his body language. I do have a soft spot for this drawing, but I walked away from it before I overworked it.

Anyway, next time I draw a Marvel character it’ll probably be Steve Ditko’s Dr. Strange, but I’m probably just gonna lift this amazing British fan art from Barry Windsor-Smith. Guhhh… look at those pretty colors.

Love the lost lines of Spidey’s black costume against the shadow on the wall. Great graphic design!
